Dear Betsy Bean,
My business partner and sometimes best friend, Mad Ted Weber and I own the Little Pigeon, a fine little upscale yet unpretentious restaurant in downtown Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Recently, we added a swell, intimate cocktail bar where we aim to pour the best drinks in town. One of our most popular drinks is our Irish coffee, but we think that we can make it even better with your help. We’ve got the whiskey part right as we’re using Bushmills Original, but are looking for the most perfect coffee. What’s your advice?
Restaurateur, reluctant heroine and amateur sleuth with moxie galore
You sound like my kind of pal. I wonder though, why is Mad Ted only a sometimes friend? There must be a good story behind that. If you have read any of the newsletters or other questions on the blog, you may gather that I have a mild fondness for the Irish Cream beverage. For a full, all around rich treat, I recommend the Peruvian – La Familia Guzman. Its rich chocolate aroma will have your customers slurping up those treats and ordering a few more. I may have to stop by and sample it . . .will Ted be there?
